2018 Resolutions

It’s the end of the year, and you know what that means!  It’s time to reflect on the past year, and see where we need to continue to focus our personal growth.  I tried to look at several areas including health of body and mind, spirituality, and just overall bad habits that need to be remedied.  Here are some things I’m going to be working on in 2018.

Do more challenging exercises.  I don’t do any type of rigorous exercise.  I enjoy a more restorative yoga practice that I use more to relax my body and refocus my mind.  But, I need to challenge myself more.  And, exercise is one way I can do that.  Whenever I find myself getting stressed, anxious, or angry with someone, I can draw upon my regular yoga practice, and just focus on my breath and the job that needs to be done in front of me.  I figure that if I challenge myself more physically and mentally on my yoga mat, I’ll also be able to deal with more challenging things more easily off the mat as well.

Make Healthy Meals Fit For Company.  Instead of worrying about whether I can make an elaborate Pinterest worthy meal, it will suit me much better to learn some basic, delicious and healthy recipes that I can easily throw together.  More vegetables is also a must!  If I’m hanging out with my friends, and it gets close to dinner time, I’d like to be able to ask them to stay and be able to whip something up without the stress of worrying about what to make.  I will also be planning my meals further ahead than a few days in advance too.

Plan Ahead, and Prepare for Tomorrow.  There are a number of things that I would like to start doing to prepare for the future.  But, overall, I would like to just get into the habit of thinking about how what I’m doing today, will affect me down the road.  I already do this to an extent.  But, just using the example above of planning out my meals further in advance, is proof that I can definitely improve.

Find Purpose.  There are days where I just feel so lost!  Like, I’m just treading water and going nowhere.  Maybe the answer is continuing to learn, but at a much faster pace?  Or, perhaps I can find a better way to take care of others, including those I love, as well as complete strangers.

The Taste of Fall

All of a sudden it’s fall.   It’s like a switch was flipped.   The nights are cooler (well, I think they’re down right cold) and the days are shorter.   I’m wearing light jackets, and thoroughly enjoying the new trench coat the I picked up back in August.   Today I had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season.   And, it was amazing.   I’m so excited that fall is here.   I just love all the spices and flavors in fall seasonal food.   I’m looking forward to trying out some very delicious looking recipes that I’ve been saving for cooler weather, and partaking in some fall-ish activties.   I just hope it doesn’t get too cold too soon!

Don't Lose Focus

I realized lately that I’ve started to lose my drive and focus when it comes to personal growth and improvement.   I hit, what felt like a major milestone a couple weeks ago, and I think in a way I felt like I could take a break.   And, while a break is ok, my “breaks” tend to last too long, or I simply stop entirely.   I recognize that I need to keep going on my current path.   Because, if I stop now, it could set me back.   And, I’m so tired of being set back, and being left behind.   What are those things that you’ve been putting off?   What is something that is undone in your life?   Get on it girl!  Even if you don't finish the task, start it today !

Happy November!

It is officially November, so you know what that means.   Holiday preparations are now in full swing.   I’ve been told I’m so organized I’m boring, but making lists, forward thinking and planning helps with managing my stress levels.   There is just so much to do, think about, and keep track of!   I have about 5 lists going right now.   It’s crazy.   What’s most exciting is that since I’ve moved to a house, my family and I will have more room to spread out and relax at Thanksgiving.   I always get so nervous that everything won’t work out, or people won’t have a good time.   But, no matter how much I worry, it always works out in the end. Here’s to a happy, healthy, and relatively stress free holiday season!
