Drink More Water - Effectively!

My sister is getting married on December 29th!  I seriously couldn’t be more excited.  However, since the wedding is just a few days after Christmas, I want to make sure that  I don’t look like I’ve been overly indulging since Thanksgiving.  I needed to find some ways to effectively keep my body healthy, and the toxins flushed from my system.  One way I’m choosing to do that, is by learning how to effectively drink more water.  Yes, there is a right way to drink water.  And, it involves more thought than just putting a glass to your lips and chugging.

No more ice!  I’ve traded in my ice water, for lukewarm water.  Drinking cold water actually constricts your blood vessels and digestive tract.  Instead of digesting our food, our bodies actually work harder to warm ourselves up.  This could be good if you’re looking to burn more calories, but I’m looking to keep my lymph system working properly.  Essentially, drinking cold water means that our bodies aren’t properly digesting our food, leading to toxic buildup in our gut.  And, then because the blood vessels are constricted, the toxins won’t be properly drained through the lymph system.

First things first.  After oil pulling, I immediately drink a tall glass of lukewarm water first thing in the morning.  This is the only time during the day that I chug water.  It helps to give your body a good flush, and keep those kidneys working!  Not to mention it will jump start your metabolism.  I’ll then sip my hot lemon water as I work through the remainder of my morning routine before heading out the door.

Sip, sip, sip!  The one thing that always annoyed me about drinking more water, is that I was constantly having to run to the bathroom.  I’m currently using my Brita water bottle, and aim to drink roughly two full bottles throughout the work day.  All in all I’m striving for 64 ounces a day total, but it’s more important to me that my body actually absorb what I’m putting in it, than just reaching the desired number of ounces.

It’s about this time of year, when I hear people say, “At the beginning of the year, I’m going to start eating better.”  Or, “I’m going to start exercising more.”  Whatever your goals are, why not start now?  Who cares if it’s a Thursday in the middle of the month!  Start today!  You won’t be sorry that you did.

Happy April Fools' Day!

I'm not a very creative person, and have never come up with something truly funny to do to my friends, family, or any roommates I've had over the years.  Maybe one day I'll be able to put some of the ideas below to good use.  Until then... these are just amusing.

There is No Gain Without Struggle

We all struggle with something.  In our moments of struggle, it's impossible to think that other people could possibly be feeling the same hurt, frustration, and loneliness we are.  Remember you are not alone.  Struggling is a part of being human.  Without it, we would not appreciate the good things that we have.  Today, recognize that without struggle, we are not driven to be better.  You are better today, than you were yesterday.  Just keep going!  Keep taking steps every day to work towards your goals of personal development.

Blessed

Ahh… the holidays are officially here and in full swing.   I had the most lovely visit with my family over Thanksgiving.   I am so blessed!!   We ate way too much, watched way too much football for my taste, and really just hunkered down for a couple of days enjoying each other’s company.   I didn’t even mind all the stuff everywhere.   J   I felt sad and lonely after everyone left on Saturday.   Luckily, I’ll get to see them again in a few weeks!!   There were many lessons learned over those couple of days.   For one, I need to maintain a healthy and active mind.   I also, need to stay on top of my hearing and monitor the progression of loss.   After being around my parents for a few days, I see my future, and I’m screwed.   LOL.   I paid attention at how my parents and my sister and her girlfriend interacted, and I can see evidence of the importance of maintaining open communication, and remaining fr...
