I love a good face mask. They make me feel like I'm pampering myself, and take very little time and effort. One of my favorites is the Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask. It goes on so smooth and feels a little like a light mouse. And, the best part, is that it soaks right into my skin! It has never left me feeling greasy, and I actually used it as my main moisturizer for over a year. Now, I alternate between this and SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2.
Anything to slow down the aging process! I may be a spinster, but I sure don't want to look like one. :)
As part of my 2017 resolutions, I wanted to be more aware of what I was putting in my body and on my skin. I have used the Environmental Working Group (EWG) Skin Deep Beauty Database in the past, but as of late have become increasing less diligent about looking up the ingredients in my beauty products. The Skin Deep Database, is a huge database of over 60,000 beauty products that rate each product based on their ingredients, and allows you to easily see the overall toxicity level, by using a a scale of one to ten, ten being the highest toxicity rating.
Unfortunately, the database didn't have the Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask listed in their extensive list of existing products. But, it's not hard to build your own report. I did a simple copy and paste of the ingredients from the Fresh website into the Skin Deep Database. With an overall rating of a five, I'm happy to see that the worst thing in the mask is the fragrance. The second is BHT, which is essentially a preservative. The majority of the ingredients are either a one or a two.
There really is nothing cleaner than making a mask by using ingredients from your kitchen, but store bought masks are just so convenient!
